Short-term exchanges of groups of students in Malaga , Spain
During the week 16th -20th May 2022, the pedagogical team from the Regional Directorate of primary and secondary education of the Ionian Islands, the students from the school partners and their accompanying teachers met in Malaga, Spain.
Málaga is a city and municipality in the province of Andalusia, Spain. It is located on the western tip of the Mediterranean and on the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
The city was founded in the 8th century B.C. From the moment of the Moorish conquest of Iberia in 711, it emerged as an important urban center and was adorned with its two castles, Alcathava and the castle of Hibralfaro. It was the most important port of the emirate of Granada, the last Muslim kingdom of Iberia, until its incorporation into the Crown of Castile in 1487.
The programme of the meeting
Monday 16th May
The participants hail were welcomed by the Vice-mayor of Málaga in the city hall. He guided then through the municipal building elaborating on the decorations that embellish the interior, particularly the main hall. The Vice-mayor contunued his tour by showing a wide guide collection of past mayors who helped Málaga flourish.
Then the participants hail headed to the Plaza of Constitution a large shopping district where there was a photo hunt in Málaga’s historic centre.
After lunch the participants went to Sierra Bermeja High School where every country introduced its institution. (power point)
Then the Sierra Bermeja students gave the participants a tour around the school.
Tuesday 17th May
According to the programme there was a visit to Granada.
Following the two-hour trip through the mountainous terrain, the team proceeded to walk to the Alhambra fort. There were vast gardens of the stronghold which offered impressive landscaping nad a vast array of plants.
Then the participants trudged through the hot streets of Granada.
Wednesday 18th May
There was a debate focused on the benefits and risks of being a social media influencer.
There was two teams, one promoting the benefits of being social media influencer and the other highlighting the risks of being engaged in social influencing. Each member of each team talked about differnet opposing argument. The point system reflected the teams’ performance on voice projection, clarity of argument and presentation of evidence.
The debate was hotly contested and in the end the team criticing social media influencing won.

Then there was and art and poetry exhibition
And a talent show
After lunch the participants visited Jardin Botanico which is a huge garden. This garden was owned by Jorge Loring and his wife, members of Malaga’s bourgeoisie, and they were the main sponsors supporting the creation of the garden. It took an hour to tour the garden.
Thursday 19st May
The first land mark of the day was Alcazaba, a fort built on a mountain adjacent Malaga. It featured lush greenery which beautified the whole structure. The defensive atchitecture was impressive. The surrounding gardens provided lots of shade and it quite amazing to see that they were fed by freshwater flowing from the mountain.
The next visit was to the national Malaga museum where there are many suggestive articrafts, paintings and statues. These articrafts encopassed Malaga’s history.
Afterwards the participants hided to the Muelle (port) park Malagueta beach.
Friday 20st May
There were Olympic games in the school
Then there was a flamenco exhibition from the Spanish students
The week ended with lunch paella at high school.
